Al-Hara's Tarada...
...was my first Azawakh bitch and the foundation bitch of my breeding program. She was a peerless example of the 'Golden Cross'; the first generation cross of the Yugoslavian line with the Old French line.

Kitabs
Each of the silver 'kitabs' is considered talismanic as each contains a verse from al-Qur'an. The Arabic word 'kitab' (book) comes from the consonantal root k-t-b....the source for all words having any connection to learning. Al hamdullilah.

...first daughter of my asil stallion Firdausi. Nasmah it means 'breath, or life, or a breeze'...al awda means 'the return'...so her name means something like 'the return of life, of a much needed breeze in the heat of the hottest day, of breath'...al hamdullilah.

my mother's mother...Grandmother Troup

There is perhaps no single person in my life who has so profoundly influenced me. Al hamdullilah. She left us at the young age of 76. Mash'Allah. I think she worked herself to death. She was a perfectionist. It is hard to be a perfectionist.
I never knew my Grandfather Troup. He died two years before I was born, mash'Allah. I wish I had known him. He was a very talented photographer.

In its falling there is no darkness,
A continuous thread beyond description,
Lining what does not exist;
Its form formless,
Its image nothing,
Its name silence;
Follow it, it has no back,
Meet it, it has no face.
Attend the present to deal with the past;
Thus you grasp the continuity of the Way,
Which is its essence.

came back to life. She had been out of commission since March. Her lens would not retract. On a whim I decided to test her today to see if she might be in a working mood. She was. At least for a few minutes, long enough for me to snap a few shots of Bomboukou and Tylalt. And the old barbeque built by my paternal grandfather many many years ago.
